Now in 2015 Shure is making history again with the introduction of the KSM8 Dualdyne™ Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone, featuring the world’s first dual-diaphragm cartridge that takes dynamic microphone technology to new heights, offering every benefit of modern dynamic technology while at the same time bringing advances like unmatched sonic accuracy, extremely low proximity effect and brilliant off-axis rejection that effectively compensates for poor miking technique. It is the biggest advancement since the original Unidyne that will once again revolutionize the live sound industry.
All dynamic microphones made to-date feature a single diaphragm design that is modeled closely on the original Shure Unidyne technology. The all-new KSM8, with its patented Dualdyne™ cartridge featuring two ultra-thin diaphragms with a groundbreaking inverted airflow system, brings dramatic improvements to dynamic microphone performance in 3 key areas:
- Exceptional control of proximity effect vastly increases working distance without on-axis coloration which translates to a great sweet spot of 0-5 inch.
- Accurate frequency response due to controlled proximity effect which allows for neutral mid-and-high frequency reproduction, resulting in the most natural sounding dynamic microphone that requires little or no EQ.
- Off-axis attenuation is flat and broad resulting in superior quality of rejection of unwanted sound sources for increased vocal clarity.
